Sound Transit riders traveling through South Seattle and Tukwila this weekend should expect delays as shuttle buses temporarily replace 1 Line light rail service between Rainier Beach and SeaTac/Airport stations on Saturday and Sunday, May 9-10.
The temporary disruption will allow maintenance crews to perform routine track and power system work near Tukwila International Boulevard Station, according to Sound Transit.
During the closure, 1 Line trains will continue operating every 10 minutes between Lynnwood City Center and Rainier Beach stations, as well as between SeaTac/Airport and Federal Way Downtown stations.
Passengers traveling through the impacted section will need to transfer to shuttle buses operating between Rainier Beach and Tukwila International Boulevard stations. Shuttle buses are expected to run every 10 to 15 minutes and will make all regular station stops along the route.
Sound Transit officials are advising riders to plan ahead and expect up to 30 minutes of additional travel time during the maintenance period.
The temporary service disruption is part of ongoing system maintenance work intended to support reliability and long-term operations across the Link light rail network.
Riders can also sign up for automatic service alerts through Sound Transit to receive updates about Link light rail, ST Express bus routes, the T Line, and Sounder commuter rail service.
