A 17-year-old boy was injured in a shooting early Tuesday morning near the Atlantic City Boat Ramp, according to Seattle police.
Officers responded around 3:30 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the 9000 block of Seward Park Avenue South. When officers arrived, they found evidence of a shooting in the street near the boat ramp.
While police were investigating, dispatchers notified officers that King County Sheriffโs Office deputies were with a 17-year-old boy in the Skyway neighborhood who had suffered a gunshot wound to the back. The teen told deputies he had been shot near Seward Park.
Seattle police responded to the 8500 block of 117th Street, where medics were transporting the victim to Harborview Medical Center.
Investigators determined the teen had been riding in a vehicle with two other boys, ages 13 and 17, and a driver. The group was traveling along Seward Park Avenue South when gunfire erupted, and the victim was struck inside the vehicle.
The driver then took the teens to Skyway, dropped them off and left the area, according to police.
Detectives with the Seattle Police Departmentโs Gun Violence Reduction Unit are leading the investigation and working to determine what led to the shooting.
