Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell is seeking an urban designer to join the Seattle Design Commission. The selected candidate will fill the unexpired term of a departing commissioner, with the initial term ending in March 2027, followed by a renewable two-year term.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the design of city-funded capital projects such as parks, community centers, and fire stations, as well as projects involving long-term or permanent use of streets or alleys. Experience with publicly funded development, planning, or policy is preferred.
Established in 1968, the Seattle Design Commission advises city officials on design excellence for capital improvement projects funded or implemented by the city, including projects in the public right-of-way. The commission also provides guidance to the mayor, City Council, and city departments on policies and proposals that impact Seattleโs public realm.
