El Centro de la Raza will host its 20th Annual Día de los Muertos celebration on November 1 at Plaza Roberto Maestas in Seattle. El Centro de la Raza will host its 20th Annual Día de los Muertos celebration on Saturday, November 1, from noon to 6 p.m. at Plaza Roberto Maestas, located at 1600 S Roberto Maestas Festival Street in Seattle.
This year’s theme, “Semillas de Justicia: Luchando por Dignidad y Democracia,” or “Seeds of Justice: Fighting for Dignity and Democracy,” honors the resilience of those who have fought against oppression and planted the seeds of justice for future generations. Ofrendas, or altars, will pay tribute to civil rights leaders, Indigenous land defenders, labor organizers, student activists, immigrants, and others who have spoken out against injustice.
The event is free and open to the public, offering live entertainment, children’s activities, an ofrenda exhibit, and a community raffle. The celebration will feature performances from a variety of cultural groups, including mariachi, folkloric dancers, orchestras, and Aztec dancers.
Entertainment on November 1 will include:

“Día de los Muertos is an important opportunity for passing on cultural traditions that give strength and identity to our children,” said Estela Ortega, executive director of El Centro de la Raza.
In addition to the opening celebration, the ofrenda exhibit will remain open to the public from Monday, November 3, through Friday, November 21.
