Seattleโ€™s Landmarks Preservation Board will consider the nomination of the former American Can Company Building, located at 2601 Elliott Ave E, for landmark status during its upcoming meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m.

The building, a potential landmark in Seattleโ€™s industrial and architectural history, is also one of the first properties set to participate in the cityโ€™s new Office-to-Residential Conversion Program. Part of the Downtown Activation Plan, the program offers a Sales and Use Tax Deferral incentive to encourage adaptive reuse of underutilized commercial buildings for new housing.

The public is invited to attend the meeting, which will be held in person at Seattle City Hall in the Boards & Commissions Room (L2-80) at 600 4th Ave. The meeting will also be accessible remotely via WebEx or telephone. Specific access details, including the agenda and participation links, will be posted on the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods website approximately one week prior to the meeting.

Public comment will be accepted both in person and remotely. Individuals who wish to speak may sign up online beginning two hours before the meeting starts.
