The Seattle Arab Festival returns to Seattle Center July 19โ20 with a vibrant, two-day celebration of Arab culture, heritage, and community. Held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day at the Seattle Center Armory Food & Event Hall, this free, family-friendly festival is part of Seattle Center Festรกl, a year-round series highlighting the cultural richness of communities across the region. This yearโs theme, Roots & Radiance, honors the traditions and resilience of the Arab world, placing a special spotlight on Syria.
Festival-goers can expect a dynamic lineup of performances, culinary offerings, artisan markets, and cultural exhibits representing the diverse customs and histories of 22 Arab nations. The entertainment schedule features acclaimed artists, including Qanun player Josi Saba, known for his masterful command of the traditional string instrument. Lebanese opera singer Rayan Atallah brings classical elegance to the stage, while Istanbul-based Country for Syria fuses Western folk and Arabic music to explore shared narratives of displacement and hope. Arab jazz fusion band Al Akhbar will close out the musical lineup with high-energy performances that blend regional melodies and modern jazz.
Dance plays a central role in the festivalโs programming, with showcases from Tannoura Dance, Sham3edan Dancers, Seattle Kids Dabkeh, Shamiyat Dabkeh, Iskandarani Folkloric Dance, and a Nubian performance. These acts offer a powerful reflection of regional identity, community pride, and artistic expression through movement.
Arab cuisine will take center stage with traditional Lebanese dishes, savory street foods, and Arabic sweets prepared by local chefs and community cooks. Food vendors will share recipes passed down through generations, offering attendees a taste of the regionโs famed hospitality and culinary diversity.
A curated bazaar will highlight handcrafted wares by Arab and Arab American artisans, including textiles, jewelry, ceramics, and calligraphy. Cultural displays and educational booths will provide deeper insight into the traditions, values, and innovations of Arab societies.
โItโs a meaningful event for everyone,โ said Amani AbouAmmo, Seattle Arab Festival organizer. โFor many Arabs, the festival is a chance to reconnectโwhether by shopping, sharing food, or reminiscing about home. For non-Arabs, it offers a window into the richness of Arab culture.โ
Originally launched as โEthnic Festโ at Northgate Mall, the festival joined Seattle Centerโs Festรกl series in 1999, allowing it to grow in scope, visibility, and impact as a celebration of cross-cultural understanding.
