O’Dea High School and Eastside Catholic dominated the 2025 Metro League Mountain Division football honors, with O’Dea head coach Monte Kohler becoming the all-time winningest coach in Washington state history and O’Dea senior running back Uriah Stringfield and Eastside Catholic senior H-back Cayden Pili being named Co-Offensive MVPs.
O’Dea remained unbeaten after overpowering West Seattle, Eastside Catholic routed Rainier Beach, Chief Sealth shut down Lincoln, and Seattle Prep overwhelmed Garfield in the final week of the Metro League football season.
Seattle Prep, Rainier Beach, O’Dea, West Seattle, and Franklin all won their respective games, with Rainier Beach and O’Dea remaining undefeated in Metro League play and West Seattle improving to 6-0.
Esquire Williams, QB for Rainier Beach, led his team to a 50-10 win over Bishop Blanchet with 337 passing yards and five touchdowns, while Micah Ili-Meneese, DB for Rainier Beach, had two interceptions and a touchdown catch on defense.
Zevion Watkins, Kurt Esteban-Mejia, Aidan Streidl, Oteko Mwamba, Marques Illi-Meneese, Desmond Parkinson, and others were recognized for their outstanding performances in the Metro League, with Watkins and Mwamba leading Rainier Beach to a 54-point victory, Esteban-Mejia anchoring a shutout defense, Streidl delivering clutch field goals, and Parkinson leading West Seattle to a rivalry win.
Rainier Beach dominated Ballard with a second-half surge, while West Seattle edged out Chief Sealth in a city rivalry, and Lakeside’s defense carried the Lions to a shutout win in Week 3 of Metro League football.
O’Dea High School head coach Monte Kohler became the winningest coach in Washington history with his 395th career win, as the Fighting Irish defeated Rainier Beach 31-16 in Metro League play.
