A 35-year-old man was seriously injured in a stabbing Tuesday evening near a transit station in the North Beacon Hill neighborhood, according to Seattle police.

Officers responded around 5:51 p.m. to reports of a stabbing in the 3000 block of Rainier Avenue South. When officers arrived, they found the man suffering from two stab wounds to his left leg.

Seattle Fire Department medics treated the victim at the scene and transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

Witnesses reported that two men chased the victim into an encampment west of the area shortly before the assault. After the stabbing, a witness placed the injured man into a shopping cart and moved him to a nearby transit station, where a community member called 911.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the primary scene of the stabbing. No suspects are currently in custody.

Detectives with the Seattle Police Departmentโ€™s Homicide and Assault Unit are leading the investigation and working to determine what led to the attack.
