The US Navy will showcase its new "Strike Group" mixed-reality experience at Seafair in Seattle, which allows visitors to participate in interactive virtual missions as Navy personnel. The experience features three components: "All Hands," "Dive," and "Achieve." "All Hands" involves launching an F-35C Lightning II jet in a five-person mixed-reality simulation set aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford. "Dive" tasks players with repairing a damaged pier as a Navy diver on an underwater construction team. "Achieve" matches participants with Navy careers suited to their skills and interests, and provides an AI-generated image of them in their recommended role.

The U.S. Navy will debut its new “Strike Group” mixed-reality experience at Seafair in Seattle this weekend, offering visitors an immersive, hands-on look at Navy technology, teamwork, and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The showcase runs Friday, August 1 through Sunday, August 3, and is designed to let participants step into the roles of Navy personnel through interactive virtual missions.

“From the depths of the sea to the heights of the stars, America’s Navy is the most highly skilled, technologically advanced military force in the world,” said Rear Admiral James P. Waters, Commander of Navy Recruiting Command. “A career in the Navy provides a life-changing experience filled with adventure, teamwork, and support, and the ‘Strike Group’ brings all these aspects to life in the most realistic ways possible.”

The mobile experience features three interactive components.

In All Hands, participants use Meta Quest 3 headsets to take part in a five-person mixed-reality simulation set aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford. Teams work together to launch an F-35C Lightning II jet, rotating through roles such as fueling aircraft, flying helicopters, and piloting the jet itself.

In Dive, players step into the role of a Navy diver on an underwater construction team. The virtual scenario tasks them with navigating a boat after a storm and using dive and welding skills to repair a damaged pier.

In Achieve, participants take a personality quiz that matches them with Navy careers suited to their skills and interests, from nuclear engineering to aviation to special operations. They also receive an AI-generated image of themselves in their recommended role.

The “Strike Group” experience aims to show the breadth of opportunities within the Navy while highlighting the teamwork and technical expertise central to each mission.
